Make sure you keep the puppy in a small area whenever you are not watching him closely, to help with potty training. He won't want to go potty where he sleeps. I have a setup in my living room with a playpen, he has his crate in there with the door open, potty pads, water, and toys. I only feed him when I am home so he doesn't eat too much and poo all over the place. Definitely do not let him have the run of the house or he will never get potty trained! If you don't get a pen for him I would reccomend using a bathroom or laundry room to keep him in at night and whenever you're not playing with him or holding him.
