I had 3 adult dogs when I got Dublin, (4, 11 & 13) and at first they couldn't be bothered with the little guy. (Still pretty much the same with the 2 older dogs - they'll play when it suits them. When it doesn't suit them Dublin sits and barks at them trying to change their minds.)

About 4 or 5 days after Dublin came home, I was in the den with all 3 of the older dogs laying around and Dublin going back and forth trying to get someone to play with him. Finally he climbed on top of the 4yr old and started nibbling on her ears.

I swear I saw a light bulb go off on her little face!! "Hey, this could be fun!" She started playing with him then, and hasn't stopped. Now she acts like she's his mommy! She's 30lbs, and she just naturally seems to know to be careful with the little guy.

So give it time. If your "firstborn" is playful, I bet they start to have fun soon. Good luck
