When I got Lacey, who is very small, I was experiencing some of the same get to know you issues, but eventually, Chloe would just put her behind in Lacey's face to keep her away without hurting her. I noticed, too, she would go to the back of the sofa or other higher spot, just to make sure Lacey, who could not even get on the sofa, who was boss. You might want to be sure to give the older dog treats first, petting first, etc. so there isn't a feeling of loss of status. Now, mine play like crazy all day. I keep them in their individual kennels, side by side, at night. It seem that after a day of companion, toward night night, they get annoyed with one another, especially the younger one. By morning, they are ready for companionship again. |
