I quit using rubber bands because they seemed to make snarls. Now, I use small barrettes. The smallest I could find was at the dollar store. Then I twist her hair and fold it over and snap the barette on it. If I don't twist it, it won't hold. I usually leave it in all day and take it out in the morning, as it doesn't seem to bother her. She is used to it now also. At first, she would rub and rub and all that good stuff until she got it out. Now she waits patiently by the sink in the morning for toothbrushing, eye wipes, brushing (Hates that) and bow in. They get use to it pretty fast!
