thanks for sending such helpful info. Samie's hair is a bit long down in that area and bc of that i think she developed some irrititation. It was easy to mis-read the scoooting as an anal gland prob and not vaginal area. i had just cleaned her anal glands. I do have ointment to put on her but it is prescription (Entederm ointment). I am almost out, but this was given for her the last time she had irritation. Not sure of any other ointment that would be ok to use. I don't want to take her to the reg vet anymore- we started taking her to a specialist. The reg vet had her on way too much medication. The specialist said to stop everything and get a new baseline in 6 wks. If the small area that is bothering her doesn't get better within a week i will take her in. but i really am thinking that this irritation is from the area being too wet. Hard to believe how fast the hair grows on them there. when i turned her over I couldn't find her little private part. the hair was about 2 inches long. OOPS. my bad- I have got to be better at that! :-)
Thanks for sending the info. what kind of clipper do you use if you don't mind me asking. I currently use a Wahl peanut trimmer to do pads of feet and ears. but i am researcing for a good clipper. I have been on to petsedge.com to see their line of clippers but how do i know which one to get? i will spend 100.00 on one but I am sure wondering which is the good one to go with. Tired of scissoring and I do keep both of my girls short in a puppy cut. my husband doesn't understand why the wahl hair clippers i have do not work. something about strokes per min or ?? they just do not grab the hair to trim it. AND I am the one that does this grooming and i NEED them :-)
