I am not sure if she might have an infection or if the scooting made her irritated.

I think it is best to keep this area closely trimmed but I am a little nervous to cut too short. Although I think a few times it was shaved too close before when they would go to the groomer. SOmetimes they had razor burn and they both scooted until it healed. I hated to see them uncomfortable like that.

I also only bathe my girls once a month
How much hair is left when using #10 blade?
I use a #10 blade to trim Lacy's "girl area". A #10 blade leaves 1/16in hair left. As long as the blade is cool, it shouldn't cause irritation. Do NOT use a higher blade than that though...a #40 will cause razor burn on sensitive areas. I only use a #40 blade to shave the tips of her ears. I use a #10 blade to do paw pads and private areas.

this site shows some of the blades, their lengths, and what they are commonly used for. http://www.petgroomer.com/Grooming10...es-revised.htm They recommend a #10 for genitals
