Default 1 year old yorkie vs Puppy...

Many of you know about my search for Esme's playmate. You may have also read about my finding a dog on puppyfind. Here is the link on that thread:
http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12930

Anyhow, I was skeptical because the dog was purchased from a breeder in Puerto Rico. Then that family sold it to this lady and now this lady is selling it because she says her first dog, a pug, doesn't like the yorkie. I had asked the lady for pictures a few weeks ago, and she said she only had the one on the advertisement. I guess she was able to get some more, because she sent them to me last night. The dog looks real cute from the pictures and it broke my heart because this poor baby really deserves her forever home.

On the OTHER hand, I am worried about bringing her into my home. Seeing as she is not a brand new puppy, CAN SHE BE FULLY TRAINED at this point in her life??? The lady said she is still not fully potty trained.

My other issue is that Esme is 9 months old, this dog is 12 months old. Esme loves EVERYONE. When we see other dogs, Esme wants to play, when we took care of my friends chi for a week Esme was in heaven... BUT, is it better for her new playmate to be a puppy or would she do okay if I bring a dog her age (I figure they won't know who is older) into the picture???

These may seem like weird or silly concerns, but Esme is has been the perfect yorkie and I just don't want to ruin a good thing. I DO want her to have a playmate but I want to make sure the dog we get fits into our family.

Please give me advice and opinions!
Mari
