My vet says it is very mild now and may never get worse but I can't help but worry. Could you give me any advice or information about this condition? Thanks so much.

Hi Joyce Ann - I don't think you are insensitive at all. CT can be a worrying condition for the owner as much as the Yorkie, it is quite common with Yorkies.
When you say cough what sort of cough does he do? Is it a cough like when we clear our throat or more of a honking sound, they nickname it a Goose Honk ....
I have had 3 Yorkies, all of mine have had CT even though they all came from different Mum & Dad's.
My older passed away due to something totally unrelated, at the age of 11 1/2
My next oldest is almost 11 and he has the same condition as the one who passed away (Chronic Heart Failure) Again not connected to CT.
Teddy my baby who is 18 months today, is unwell due to what I have stated on this thread, and his CT is just a separate issue.
I have my own method I have worked out with them, to calm them and help.
Let me know more either on this thread or send me a PM (Private Message) I will support you all I possibly can. You are NOT alone.
I know how much we love these guys.
Thinking of you Diana
