Marty's mom was the typical color you normally see. I didn't get to see his dad. (He was a stud and not at the breeder's house.) My husband and I were pretty shocked when he stayed that dark color, but we both love him and think he's adorable so we didn't mind.
Maddie came to us through a (really awesome) YT member from NJ. She was 4 1/2 when we got her so we knew she'd be dark too and thought it'd be cute to have two "darkies".
So basically, it was just random. Everyone thinks they are siblings...
