My opinion is that you should have gotten the little guy. I worked as an animal control officer for a few years at our local animal shelter and you have no idea of how stressful it is for some dogs. The hairloss is more than likely stress related and will continue to get worse. Shelters dont test dogs for liver shunts and all that stuff because they dont have the financial resources to do so. They are however tested for heartworm. He sounds like a real cute little thing. Just because a dog like that is in the shelter doesn't mean that it is going to have a life full of health issues. I have seen plenty of shelter dogs live long and issue free lives. He is young too so he isn't super set in his ways and would be really simple to train. JMO |
