Well, since I just sent Monty home based on the fact that his owner knew his microchip number; I would say it is an invaluble tool to help safegaurd your dog.
Monty's mom did not have the chip registered, but did know the number. I did not want to just give him to anyone that called so asked her for the number.
What a great way to prove this was the true owner!
