I think I will still do it, $40 is not that much to pay for my piece of mind and for that amount he will have it his entire life! You never know the circumstances where someone might scan for the chip, even if your dog was stolen. It might hurt a little bit but I have gone through much worse without anesthesia. Also I had to take my 10 month old baby daughter to the emergency room and had to see her get blood drawn and get a catheter put it. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to see but it was for her own good.
