You know, I observed both of my dogs being microchipped, neither seemed bothered by it at all. Ginger did bleed a little after (her harness rubbed right at the site) but that bothered me more than her. I also saw a tiny little one microchipped once and he seemed fine.
Also, in our area, once microchipped you can license them for life. No more annual licensing needed.
