When I first got Milo we had this issue. Then I realized I was causing a lot of it. I would pause if only for a second or talk to him before leaving. That is a big part of it you have to not acknowledge that you are leaving. Then I used to practice leaving, I would leave for a Min. than come back this way he knew I was coming back. I would do this like once an hour for a few days then everyday I would increase by a few seconds, never acknowledging him when I leave I just go. Now when I leave he knows the signs he goes to the window waits for me to get in the car and then leaves the window. Oh also when you practice sometimes put a coat on and sometimes take the keys you need to change up your routine they are very smart, and can figure out your patterns quickly. Good Luck
