My mom went through this and she still uses IMITREX when she feels a headache coming on.
I can remember when I was young, she had to have total silence and darkness for what seemed like days on end. I remember she was using the IMITREX injections for a while.
But she has told me that the headaches are less severe now that she is premenopausal.
A lot of it has to do with your menstrual cycle.
So I guess what I am saying is, if you cannot find something to stop the severity of the headaches, then you have to wait until you are 45+. (NOT a happy thought).
BTW, I do not know how long IMITREX has been on the market,
But after a drug is on the market for 20 years, the patent expires and it can be sold in a generic form. That would be SUMATRIPTAN SUCCINATE. That would be less of a financial burden then.
Just thinking about the cost of each pill can give you a headache. It definitely was a factor with my mom. She would hesitate to take it in time to avoid the migraine.
