A few notes from me (aka my 2 cents):
Wellness does use Menu Foods to manufacture "some" of their canned formulas. When you email and ask which ones, they do a nice publicity spin and keep it vague. When a holistic vet pointed this out to us, i returned our unused Wellness dry kibble for a refund.
Our yorkies did not like Solid Gold wee bits ( we feed the cats the solid gold cat food and they are looking soooo good- nice fur, less poop and even the geriatric kitty doesn't barf it up!) I wish the yorksters liked it. It's more $ but I say well worth it. And made in the US.
Many "holistic" type pet food stores have the samples on hand. These are good for sampling but also for treats. A small bag of different dry food can also serve the same purpose, with less empty calories than true dog treats/snacks. And of course, don't forget the carrots! Our yorkies love raw carrots as a snack.
Some of the Chicken Soup series was in recall:

Both Wellness and Chicken Soup food are sold at my local "holistic" style petfood store, so be sure to do your homework. not everything they sell is necessarily equal.
I also buy the Evanger's canned dog food. They love it.
