Like the OP, I started out right away. He's very sensitive and was a nervous wreck when I first brought him home, so I put him in a hobo style purse so I could carry him around the house with me and help to comfort him in his new environment. I think because if that, he sees the purse a source of comfort. Do everything you can to make it a good experience. Use treats ect. Start out at the house and get him used to it and let him protest there. That way it won't matter if he throws a tantrum and makes alot of noise.I think its alot like getting them used to the crate. Mine is fine if I carry him, but doesn't really like it when I put him down. We're working on that one. He's getting better.
