DH is NOT happy w/ the vet...said that she was an idiot...didn't even tell him about the meds or anything...he had to ask about everything! Then, she didn't give him his rabies shot.....anyway....it was a $300 vet bill and apparently she did surgery because that portion of the bill was $200....he is bandaged up and we have to go back in on Wednesday to take some sort of drainage tube (?) out...I have no clue...I wish I would have been the one to pick him up. Anyway, they gave him antiboitics and pain meds...he is still a little out of it tonight. Pain meds go down to half a pill tomorrow....that will help. |
she probably debrided the wound and cleaned it up which was the "surgery" part. Then she placed a drain in the surrounding area so fluid wouldn't build up under the skin and cause a saroma. Keep the drain area clean by using a wash cloth and warm water. It will drip occasionally but it shouldn't be excessive. Don't let rusty pick at it and pull it out. If need be, put an e-collar on him. If you give me the names of the meds she gave you i can tell you more about then and their general use.
