I would never buy a yorkie with an undocked tail, especially being in the US where the standard calls for it to be docked. In my opinion, no reputable show breeder is going to leave the tails undocked when the standard calls for it. I very much prefer the docked look...I've seen a couple full tails that look cute on the yorkie but most take away from the neat appearance and silouette (sp?) of the breed. A docked tail is not only for sanitary purposes and safety for the tail, but is also a part of our breeds history. I think if anyone in the US ever tries to ban tail docking, there will be quite an uproar and fight against it...I hope nothing like that is ever passed here. Tail docking, when done on a newborn and properly done, is not cruel. The bones aren't hardened and nerves aren't fully formed at that point...the puppies are fine right after the procedure.

What about circumcision? Should it be made illegal? It's an elective procedure but the babies can't really say if they want it done or not. There is really no purpose for it other than cosmetic (and maybe sanitation)...same to me as docking a puppy's tail.
