I know what you're saying and I have the same problem. I take the battery out so it won't ruin it and I leave the computer on top of a tray with mini fans that keep the laptop from overheating. The screen does turn off after about 15 min of being on. I just started using the petcam for a few days now, all this if just too new right now, but I don't know if I'm gonna keep it on everyday forever! Probably I'll plug it in when my baby is not feeling well or on special days.
