Many - if not all - European countries consider it absolutely barbaric to cut (read: butcher, maim) an animal simply to satisfy some archaic standard for "beauty". Ear trims and tail dockings are just not done anymore. In fact, it would disqualify an animal from showing on the European circuits.

It's rather startling to see a flop-earred, long-tailed Dobie to us, but I'm sure the Europeans think it's equally horrifying to see the cropped dogs *we* call Dobermans. Some dogs come by them naturally; Westies and Scotties all have nice perky ears and medium length tails - but they're born with them.

Yorkies are so energetic and enthusiastic ... I bet a long tail is just icing on the cake .
