You need to put his food down for 20 minutes and allow him to eat what he wants distracted or not. Then after 20-25 minutes, pick it up, even if he's not finished. Don't give him more food until his next feeding schedule. He will get hungry enough to concentrate on eating at some point. He will also come to rely on knowing that the food is only down for a short time and he has to eat or he gets nothing more until next feeding. You need to use the 20 minute put-down/pick-up at every feeding.
Not only will this get him more scheduled to have him potty trained, but you are establishing control and therefore, he will pay more attention to you when you train him for behavioral issues. |
