Check your "Big Box" pet stores; a lot of them have vets on call on weekends who will do it for substantially less than your regular vet.

There is no reason to do both neutering and chipping at the same time, unless it's just to save the cost of a vet visit. The chip implantation is like getting a shot ... nothing more. It will hurt you more than him ... so don't look .
