My two new pups have Home Again; my older dogs all have Avid. I've never heard of Crystal Tag, and a google doesn't come up with very much.
Chipping isn't that big a deal; neither of the pups even flinched when they were implanted. However, it becomes a big deal if you think your pet is protected, but it's with an "off brand" that no one can read should the necessity arise. All the chips have "readers"; most of the new readers will pick up on several different kinds of chips. But if the chip isn't a commonly recognized one, it won't be read, which is tantamount to not having one.
I'm a techno nut; I like to be on the cutting edge of many things. But other things, the "tried and true" can't be beat. There's a lot to be said for "common" things. |
