Default Question about sudden excessive shedding

Hello everyone. I have a sweet yorkie named Ruby and she is a year and a half old. Anyway, I noticed that her dog bed has been full of hair the last few times I washed it (about once every two weeks or so). I actually thought it was my other dogs hair flying around and just sticking to her bed because the other dog does shed (and is black too). Well, yesterday I gave her a bath and her hair was just falling out in blobs into the sink, I think if I would have kept bathing her the hair would still be coming out today!! It was freaky. I dried her and brushed her and the hair was just coming out. She doesn't have any bald spots, her skin looks very clear, and her color isn't changing, just thinning a lot. I haven't changed her food or done anything different. I asked my vet about it today (we were their with our other dog for a follow up) and he said to bring Ruby in if she is still losing hair in about 3 weeks because usually yorkies don't drop hair like that and they'd have to test for possible internal issues like thyroid or autoimmune problems. I was just wondering if anyone else out there has heard of this and can offer suggestions. I live near Chicago, so we're not even in shedding season if that was the case anyway. She has been a little less active lately, kinda hanging out with our great dane more than usual and just laying around with her, but nothing overly unusual since they are best pals. Thanks for any info.
