I just read through this post today and would be willing to take on this little girl's veterinary expenses if we can get her to Winnipeg, Canada.

This thread is becoming quite negative and I think we should all put ourselves in the shoes of the original poster. I'm not sure about the United States, but surgery for patellar luxation here in Canada is more than $3,000 alone. That, combined with the other ailments will likely cost nearly $5,000 altogether. That kind of money would hurt almost anybody.

I feel like a broken record, but I am in a very lucky position in that I can obtain virtually unlimited veterinary services because my small business belongs to a barter exchange - an group of businesses that trade products and services in return for "barter credit" instead of cash. I usually build one or two websites at $5,000 each in barter credit every month. I can then spend that money with other businesses in the exchange. There is an excellent veterinarian and pet supply store that belong to the barter exchange.

My Yorkie/Chi angel, Tika, was given a clean bill of health by the veterinarian at her humane society but my vet immediately noticed she had patellar luxation and will need the surgery down the road. If I did not have the abovementioned veterinarian situation, I would have been forced to return her for her own wellbeing (which would have been the most heartbreaking thing I could imagine).

It's a tough situation because if the original poster just sits back and allows this to happen (because her heart has fallen in love with this dog), the unscrupulous person who sold her will continue to be deceitful and misleading.

I'm going to send a private email to the original poster and respectfully ask people to be a little more kind on this thread. Maybe we can all work together to get this little girl to me for veterinary care?

If the original poster is willing to permanently rehome this Yorkie with me I would be thrilled, but I am willing to get this girl the veterinary care she needs regardless.

First things first ... I'm going to ask the original poster if she would like to accept my offer. If she agrees, here is what I'm thinking ...

I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba ... a three hour drive from Grand Forks, North Dakota or Minneapolis, Minnesota. Since I got Tika from the U.S. (Thief River Falls, Minneapolis) I know there is a $30 charge to bring a dog across the border from the U.S. to Canada that I could cover. The second requirement is that the dog must have up to date rabies vaccinations.

Is there anyone willing to volunteer their time to help drive this girl from her current location en route to either Grand Forks, North Dakota and Minneapolis, Minnesota? I could meet up with a volunteer there.

Unfortunately this would have to be after Feb. 15 when I return from my vacation. (Man, I almost wish I wasn't going now!)

I'll let everyone know what the original poster says.
