Diet soda is not the answer -- it's full of Aspartame and all it's dangers. The worst part now my 18 yr old daughter is addicted to it, although she is suppose to be working on giving it up.

Ice tea was a good substitute for me because I don't like it sweetened - maybe with some lemon
I read the entire thread wondering if anyone knew about Aspartame? I, too, was a Diet Coke addict [didn't even keep real sugar in my house ... only Splenda, Equal, etc.] and then I read a report on Aspartame and never let any artificial sweetner containing Aspartame pass my lips again, including Diet Coke! There was one particular case of a lady who the doctors couldn't find an answer to her medical problem and got so bad she was confined to a wheelchair appearing to have MS! Her sister, when she found out that she was drinking soda sweetened with Aspertame, told her to stop immediately. She did and it wasn't long until she was fully recovered. She did have to take a medication for awhile to reverse the effects. It scared me spitless!!

I now only drink coffee, bottled water, unsweetened tea [hot & cold] and wine.
