Sad Itching too with scabs

I know exactly how you feel! I am also new here and I had to share our misery so that maybe we can make sense of all this? My baby girl was only 8.5 months old when all the problems started. She started the itching, scratching, biting, and absolutely could not rest. She then had just a couple of scabby spots on her shoulder. I thought maybe her collar was rubbing, so I took it off. At first, of course I thought maybe it could be fleas, but she is on Frontline and I never saw any fleas. I even tried giving her Capstar a couple of times which is suppose to kill any fleas on her within a few hours. I bathed her in flea shampoo with oatmeal. I called the Vet and discussed, but finally made an appt.
Our Vet is always so very helpful and she agreed that she didn't see any fleas either. I was dreading the talk of Steroid Shot because I had that experience before with a beloved pet who had Yeast Skin Infection and was praying not to go down that road again.
Well, she said Bella was too young for Steroid. RELIEVED! She wanted to know our bathing routine for Bella. She explained that sometimes "we humans" bathe our furry babies in water temperature that we think we like which is way too hot for them! The water should be cool, she said. The warmer water dries out their skin. I also blow dry her which I shouldn't do. She suggested Fish Oil on her food once a day which I am now doing, plus she is on an antibiotic for the skin scabbies. I also spray her with Hydrocortisone spray with Aloe. Benadryl - well it doesn't seem to do much for my baby. The liquid Benadryl makes her throw up. So tablets are better for her. We are still struggling - Bella because she is miserably discomforted and Me because I feel like I'm letting her down. I also wanted to add that during all this she developed tear stains which was strange? Poor Baby also is going through her first Heat cycle. She will curl up with me and I will put my arms around her to make it stop, but soon she has to find a new spot and proceed with itching. I am trying all that I can. Please help.................she is such a sweet baby. It's been a few weeks now and hope she gets better soon!
