This is why I went with tile when we removed our old carpet in our bedroom. You could see stains that you never smelled or knew were there on the pad under the carpet. It was disgusting!!! Not to mention the huge pile of dirt that I swept up after removing the pad. Now we only have carpet upstairs and I plan to pull that up next and replace it with hardwood floors- well that material that looks like wood and snaps together. Tile is so much easier to keep clean! I think with animals in the house- whether they are house trained or not- tile or something other than carpet is the way to go.
