We had a bunch of them last year. Drove us nuts. I finally figured out how they were getting in and sealed it off. I was amazed that it almost eliminated them. I'll see one every now and then, but it's not bad.
I called a company that specializes in ridding all unwanted animals from homes. Birds, snakes, raccoons, rats, you name it. They were too booked to help me out, but their advice: Kill them. They had me set a dozen wooden traps in the basement.
They do sell live traps, but I've found they don't work very well. Kill 'em. They're dirty and they'll get into food you didn't even know was out. And they LOVE dog food.
