Love My Alyssa has little scabs, too.

About 2 weeks ago my Alyssa started scratching and biting her skin. This went on for a few days. Finally I could stand it no more. I felt like such a bad mommy. I called the vet who of course wanted me to bring her in. I have done that before and he ends up putting her on steroids. I really prefer she not be on steroids. I called my groomer and told her what we were experiencing. I put on my strong reading glasses and turned her upside down in search of fleas. I could find no fleas. She had white flaky skin and little black things all over her fur and her stomach. She had chewed on her fur so much that it was coming off at her tail. I took her to the groomer and paid all of this extra money for a better quality of shampoo/conditioner with oatmeal, a special treatment for fleas, etc. I even had her teeth brushed as part of the deal. They cut her fur fairly short but saw no evidence of fleas. They did give her a flea treatment. They asked me how often I bathe her...no more often than every 2 weeks. I told them I had used Dawn soap detergent the last time and then her regular shampoo. When she came home she was not scratching so much. Two days later I turned her over to check her stomach. There were little black things again like scabs that were attached to her body. I could not pull them off without hurting her. Her stomach was also starting to flake again. The only thing I could think of was maybe she was getting something in the treats she got. I totally took her off treats except for Yorkie Yummies. I also used Healthy PetNet Soothing Mist with Aloe Vera and Lavender. I spray her with this 3 to 4 times a day. She is still itching but not as badly as she was. I beginning to think she may have some problems with the heat system or perhaps the treats she was eating. She is better but we still have problems. I would love to know what is going on with her. I want to know why she is still scratching and why she has the scabs. Anyone with helpful information???
