martini has part of the kitchen where her bed and toys are so she has some room to run around i have a gate blocking the other rooms...i use to leave her in the crate when she was younger but since she is so good i doggy proofed the house where i know she can hangout and play and then when im home she roams the apartment all she wants until i bed time..hope that helps
