Unfortunately, I have Bella and Chloe in their own separate crates. They have extra of room since I got their crates a little big. I don't feel as guilty now as I first did. They even go in there at night to lay down sometimes.
I tried gating them separately in our big master bath but it didn't work. I think Chloe about had a nervous breakdown during the day. When I came home she had partially knocked down a gate and had chewed and bent the wires at the bottom of the gate. Evidently she climbed it and got out. Because she partially knocked the gate over, little Bella got out too through the bottom. That was the end of the gating them.
Tried x-pens too but Chloe is my monkey and she climbed that after 2 days.
