I had a Rotwiller/Newfoundland mix that tried that and I had a time training him but in the end he became the sweetest non aggressive boy in the world. I would give him a bone then take it away while I growled at him! I used a glove just in case. By 1 yr old he was trained but it wasn't easy. At eight months he weighted over 100 lbs.
BE AGRESSIVE!!! He needs to know you are alpha now and learn you are the boss. If you don't get him properly trained he will end up biting someone and need to be put to sleep. It really is not his fault, he needs a tough hand to train him.
