I worry all the time that Lacy will need surgery one day. She has a grade 2 left and grade 3 right. Luckily her legs have never bothered her. My vet told me that she's seen a lot of small dogs do fine with a grade 3 as long as you keep their weight down. I just do not want to put Lacy through that surgery if her legs aren't bothering her...so I'm going to wait and see. The only downside to that is that the surgery is more difficult when they are older. So if she does end up needing surgery, I know it will be harder later in her life. It's a hard decision to make...I just don't want to put her through surgery if she's no in pain or bothered by it...but I would hate to have a more difficult surgery later. |
So well said,

my little Kacee has LP also.

He was not born with it, he was just fine, but my brother in law decided when I was not home to let him climb the large steps going up to their deck,

but all afternoon..

he weighed less then 2 pounds.. not long after that he would cry out. I then found out that this is what had happened.. I cringe when people with small toy dogs, think it is funny when there little one's as baby's stand on their hind legs.. and jump up and down on them.. It can cause LP so easily. It is just a scary thought to even put kacee through this surgery..
