Make sure the crate is very small. Just enough room to turn around in and lay down. We had the smallest one and put a small shoebox in the back of it to make it smaller for a while. Also for the first week we had him, I set my alarm and took him out in the middle (about 2-3 am) night. He never had an accident in his crate at night. Now his is almost a year and goes in his crate about 11 pm and will sleep on weekends till 10 am if we are still sleeping. His crate is right by our bed. Good luck
