Ok, I am in tears over here thinking that you might return him. PLEASE DON'T

According to that Cali puppy lemon law, you'll get $ back, but you have to notify the breeder within 5 days. BUT, you haven't even gotten any sort of test results back yet.

Please call your Vet (general Vet) and schedule a Bile Acid Test. This test cost about $70 to $80.

You will need to fast him for 12 hours, drop him off at the Vet for a 1/2 day. They draw blood, feed him a fatty food and then after 2 hours draw blood again. You'll get the results in a day or two. But this will show how the liver is functioning. If the #s are high they will lean towards MVD or a Liver Shunt.

But at that point you have those results and if they are high, you will need it on your Vet's paper, and you will need to serve this breeder with them, b/c according to the law, you are entitled to $ back from her towards the Vet bills.

MVD or Liver Shunt is NOT a death sentence. BUT first you need to find out IF he really has any liver issues at all. MVD can be controlled very easily but a special diet and supplements. A liver shunt (if operable) can be fixed, and he will live a very healthy life.

Please try to do what you can for him, b/c if you return him, I fear for his life
