most dogs get tapeworms from swallowing a flea that has one inside of it. Rylie eats EVERYTHING so it doesn't surprise me...this is actually the third time he's had tapeworms in his life (he's 3 years old). Lacy had them when I got her as a puppy and never got them again. Fleas are always bad in Texas...haven't seen any recently, but I'm putting flea meds on them tomorrow after their bath just to be safe. I guess a dog could get tapeworms from licking another dog's butt and swallowing one, eating poop that has tapeworms, or swallowing a tapeworm that has fallen onto something and is still alive
