AKC will not register mixed breed puppies. Both mother and father of a litter must be of the same breed and AKC registered for AKC to register the puppies.

however, AKC does not regulate how many breeds a breeder breeds or even if they breed mixes. You could breed two AKC registered purebreds together to make a mixed breed litter, but AKC will not register them if they are mixed.

If there is a question to whether or not a puppy is purebred or not, AKC will require a DNA test
