When I was 5 I was diagnosed ADHD, now as an adult I am ADD. I had many years at the University of Michigan do non-profit research on me as a child (like putting me in a room with toys with mirrored walls, written tests, eye tests, etc) I have been on many different types of medications and did struggle out though my childhood with being able to sit still, pay attention, and constantly talking. I feel before people just say (none of you, just in general) he would need to be tested and evaluated. Placing a child on any medication for ADD or ADHD can really change there personality and almost make them like a walking zombie. It takes time and trial and error to really find the right dose. A lot of the different meds I was put on would almost make me feel like I wasn't in my own body, as if like I said I was a walking zombie, and others well have other side effects that always need to be looked at too. Its so easy for people just say "oh he is ADHD, give him meds" I really think as someone else stated there are many different alternatives before giving them meds. Now as an adult I can control myself and learned how to deal with it, but I believe that comes with maturity. I think you have a wonderful point in saying yes he is interested in videos games and he focuses in on those. As he might not be challenged enough in school or interested. Does he act out, act rambunctious, almost to a point that you don't have control? Or is he more the dreamy, lost in la la land type (like me lol) Wow I wrote a lot, I guess to put it simply see a specialist, or maybe even two. Do research and educate yourself on the whole subject so you as the mother can do your own observations and see what you think. I hope this helps...I kinda rambled a bit...
