It's because they do love them and are part of the family that the well respected show breeder does rehome because it is in the best interest and well being of the dog. That's why I want to keep mine on a very very small scale and want to show for others because I would try and keep everyone that I do show and so far I have LOL....even one that just has 3 points towards her championship but I retired her from the show ring because she was too small and in saying that it means she's too small to breed but she's still with me and is my baby that snuggles with me every night. I know several well respected show breeders that love every one of their show dogs but have rehomed them because if they didn't I couldn't tell you how many they would have and it's not fair to these little furbabies! The need to be in a home where they would get someone's full attention
Being a show breeder/exhibitor isn't for everyone. I just love showing but I can't afford to go out and buy a show dog everytime I finish one so I have to breed some to get my next show dog but I can tell you this...I love all my babies!!! Not one is not without love and affection!! They all run my house!
I don't doubt at all that you and most reputible breeders love your dogs. But in order to be able to rehome your dog it has to be on a different level. If deciding to breed one of my dogs meant having to give up another there would be no choice. I would not be willing to give up my Bella or Lucee. That would be like giving up one child to have another, couldn't do it. Again, I'm not judging. I can see why as a breeder you HAVE to keep it on another level or it would be impossible to rehome them. The love of breeding or showing must be stronger than the love for the individual dog otherwise it would be impossible to choose to rehome and breed rather than taking a break from breeding and keeping the dog. I guess I see it as those breeders love their dogs as they love all creatures but they're not "In Love" with their dogs as I am with mine. Because you've chosen to keep your breeding in a small scale you thankfully haven't had to make that choice and hopefully won't have to. And you never know, if comes down to that choice you may find that you're willing to take a break from breeding if it means keeping your babies .
