I do know that the shelters here very rarely have small breed dogs coming in. When they do, they go fast as they have a super long waiting list. So if I myself wanted to get a small mixed breed around here, it mostly likely wouldn't be from a rescue.
By the way, I would like to point out that there are just as many mixes in shelters as there are purebreds. The purebreds just get snatched up a lot quicker.

I do have a mix. A yorkiepoo, my Trixie. She is one of the best dogs I have ever owned. She has such a wonderful personality, and is the smartest dog in the household. I wouldn't change a thing about her and I am very glad I got her, I have no regrets with her.
I was going to say about the mixes tending to be smarter, but, thought I best not, but, since you said it first, I do have to agree, all the mixed dogs I've been around, do tend to pick up things much quicker than purebreds..
