Hi! I love learning about our varied group of yorkietalkers!!

I am a Christian - pentecostal and love to be in church - love Christian music - but I'm not someone you want to hear sing .

I am rediscovering my exact interests - I just spent 18 years raising my daughter.Thyat was my number one job & I love being a mom. She's off to college 11 1/2 hrs away -- but up until this year, I spent every minute on the run as her mom. She danced 5-6 days a week and was on a competition dance team and also twirled the baton competitively, so on any given weekend we could be at a dance or baton competition somewhere across the Midwest. And 4 weekends a year at piano competitions. She also played the flute, was a 2-time state champion cheerleader and on a Bible Quiz team. For many years she also figure skated competitively and took vocal lessons. We were in a mother-daughter book club for about 6 yrs. So as she says, I ran hard for 18 years and now, I'm resting.

I love planning events & parties - my daughter has long said that I missed my true calling and that I'm suppose to be a party planner. She always had the best birthday parties & that is one way I have expressed my creativity.

I have an educational background in family therapy and worked for a number of years in the field of adoption - counseling birth moms and also, conducting homestudies for perspective adoptive homes. I am a writer and photographer. I recently learned to shoot and edit professional video.

I am passionate about my daughter having a nearly free education at a top university. Last year, I made it almost a full-time job searching for scholarships that she could qualify for - she received over $12,000 in outside scholarships for her freshman yr - because of her efforts - (and the rest from her university-- we feel this was worth our time, even though she turned down several full-rides at other universities.) I loved all the scholarship searching and the process of selecting the best college for her. We visited 26 universities -- in the South, the East Coast & Chicago area.

I loved this process with her so much, I have thought about starting my own college consulting business. No one really does that around here, but I'm not sure people would pay for this type of consulting or counseling around here. I've even thought about how I could offer services to travel with students whose parents are too busy to take them to visit all the schools.

I love to travel, and don't mind driving. I think about moving from the cold Midwest. My daughter and my grandmother - who died almost 11 mths ago at 103 1/2 were what kept me here. But my parents live in Florida & my brother in Atlanta, so I think of moving South, but I don't know where.

I love to read - historical fiction, true stories, positive self-growth books. I love history and used to write a historical weekly newspaper column about homes, businesses and the people who impacted my city decades ago. I love old homes - mine is about 112! Just wish I was a fix-it girl

Since my daughter left, I have spent way toooooo much time on YT and the Internet - the most creative things I've done lately is start a yorkie meetup group with Suzy and start a moms group. We call ourselves - SNAIL (Sending Notes and Items of Love) Moms -- we gather together and send care packages to our daughters. Each mom brings 7 of the same items - one for each girl. It is fun to see how creative the other moms are and see how they might choose something I wouldn't have thought of. Our girls all attended the same Christian school - although not necessarily graduated from there. All the girls chose an out of state school. We get together and pray for our daughters and each other and pass out the goodies and notes.

I used to raise and bred Bichons and Siamese cats. I no longer have Bichons, and am down to my female Siamese, who will be 15 in about 6 wks. I adopted my 2 yorkies when they were less than 1 1/2 yrs old - they have been with me for almost 5 yrs. I can't imagine ever living life without a yorkie

Today, I went to my first dog show (with Suzy ) - very interesting - so much going on at once, and so fun seeing so many different breeds of dogs
