OK - as a daughter who was a pain in my mom's rear (I never put any life on the line but I was a BRAT) & now as the mother of 3 boys -
you did the right thing. She "hates" you now but, most likely, she will get over it. If you are lucky, like my mom was, she will get over it soon. I realized pretty quick that my life was better with my mom in my corner - now when one of my boys gets an attitude & I don't let them get away with it, she is right there to tell me I did the right thing (then once they are out of earshot she reminds me that "I am paying for my raising"). Sometimes it takes "tough love" to get thru to someone...
