This is what happens when Dogs are not socailized with humans.
we took her to puppy classes and take her out and about to visit. It does help but the one thing you need to do is .....
If Mia Is trying to (Protect you) you need to let her know that is not ok. set her down on te floor if she does that and tell her no. If not it will just get worse.. good luck.. she is a doll | Oh I know it will take some time.... it's not her fault, the sweet girl... she's such a good girl with Gracie and the other dogs, she LOVES to romp and play... is a sugar sweet snuggler with me and just is unsure of everything else right now...
She'll be fine in time, I just wish she didn't feel so insecure....
Yes, she does do the "protecting mommy" thing as just this evening, bit my 12 year old daughter right in the nose! She wasn't even near Mia, but had walked up to me to show me her homework while Mia was on my lap here at the computer.
And yes, I immediately put Mia on the floor and told her a strict "NO! Naughty Girl!!"..... she just curled up around my feet and continued to bark at my daughter...
I then sat my daughter right in my lap and gave her a big ol hug.... Mia went crazy barking but sat still at my feet. I told her shhhhhhhh and my daughter talked quietly to her.... in a few moments Mia was quiet, but still leary... my daughter got up and knelt down to pet Mia, which she allowed her to do... and then turned to walk away.... Mia chased her..... ugh!
Everyone in the house has picked her up and held her... which she doesn't mind... she doesn't squirm or try to jump down... doesn't growl or try to bite them.... it's just when people are coming towards her... or walking away....
"Baby steps".... but we'll get there.... she's worth the effort!!
I think once she is a tiny bit more settled here at home, we'll venture out to PetSmart and visit some of the locals! I think she'll like the puppy part, but the parent part will surely give her a spook!!
