I have a small Yorkie who has never had any problems as far as health goes. Had a pretty nasty injury due to his small size though.
In any case, having a small Yorkie that is healthy is not comparable to purposely breeding small dogs to get small dogs.
I think that when people make statements regarding small Yorkies being unhealthy, they refer more to people who are breeding them down with nothing but $$$ in their sights--clearly the dogs' health and well being are not being put first....but the same could be said for any breeder just trying to capitalize...regardless of the size pups being produced.
I'm sure there is alot that web sites don't show you that can only be assumed, but at the same time, there ARE going to be some things that you don't have to experience 'in person' in order to make an accurate statement. A 2.5 lb female being bred is just that--website or in person, makes no difference. A large number of dogs being bred is just that--website or in person, makes no difference. It is what it is.
