But I still dont understand whats the big deal if the word is used to describe a small yorkie. yes I get the story behind teacups and why people call them that and ask more money for them. Many on YT say that its a ploy to get more money and its not right to do that yet even breeders on YT charge more for their smaller ones. so they do the very same thing that people on YT think is wrong but no one says that to them. I guess Im just a bit confused. Teacup is a word used to describe a smaller yorkie and it is looked at so bad yet you guys use teapot. its just a word...but so is teacup. I dont I guess I just dont understand the big deal. Im sure someone will explain it lol
I hate the term because those uneducated about the breed really think there is a "teacup" yorkie. Sometimes I want to scream when I hear someone ask if that's a teacup yorkie or a standard yorkie...ugh. It just annoys the crap out of me. What really gets to me is when someone has a yorkie and thinks there is a teacup yorkie. OMG...why did they not educate themselves on the breed they wanted BEFORE they bought it..just dumb Everyone thinks they want a teacup yorkie because they're so cute and little, but most people have no idea they don't exist and most people are not responsible enough to own such a tiny dog. They don't understand the increased risks, vet bills, and precautions that come with owning a really tiny dog. I just wish people would educate themselves and realize that there is no such thing as a teacup anything..no teacup poodle, maltese, yorkie, chihuahua, pomeranian, ANYTHING! It does not exist! And breeders that sell them as "teacups" are no good. It's a major red flag that should tell you to run like the wind.

One reason the term "teacup" is so bad is because it can be so deceiving. While there is a standard for the yorkshire terrier (up to 7lbs), there is NO standard for a Teacup Yorkshire Terrier. Because of this, breeders could sell any dog as a Teacup if they wanted to. I've seen a lot of dogs that were sold to people as teacups that ended up being larger than the Yorkie standard. It's just all so dishonest really.
