You have a point, cause one thing I did not mention is that it was easier because it was in the summer, if I were doing this now, I am sure I would not have much luck. Remember this, if you crate train and pad train since you are going to be out of the house for a long period of time, you can always re train in the summer to go outside, and then keep the pads out when you are gone, I would just make sure that the pad is by the back door or the door that you go out.
