Our main floor and top floor our wood and we left our basement cement floors that we painted....just in case of leaks, pipes breaking, hot water heater, etc. But I found that our basement never gets too cold or too hot! We put in a fireplace down there and we have never had to use it. But I don't think our next house will have a basement....or an upstairs though....I am thinking ONE level!!!!
