Hi Lavonda, I just got my first puppy in Aug, he was 3 months old and pad trained. I did not want him pad trained so I had to pull the pads that he came home with and bite the bullet. I suggest that you take him outside in the same spot every time on a leash at first while you are outside you need to say "go potty" and keep telling him to go in a nice voice, (make sure you always have a treat in your pocket) as soon as he goes you say "good potty" and give him a treat. I did this and he leared so quickly, then I realized that if I did not watch him closely he would go by the back door and then run to another part of the room and pee, I really had to watch him, so I decided to put 2 bells by the back sliding door and would watch him closely then when I saw a certain movement that I knew I would say go potty and I would ring the bell and open the door, I tell you within 1 week he had it down. I always gave a treat, after he was done and praised him. Good Luck!
